This weekend, I stood inside a booth filled with my paintings at the Berryessa Art Festival alongside East Valley Artists. These works that once existed quietly in my studio were out in the world, being seen, felt, and welcomed into people’s homes. It felt surreal. And it felt…

A moment discovered mid-hike, where movement softened into stillness. Dense trees draw the eye toward a quiet pocket of light, reflected like a mirror in the water below. It captures the feeling of arriving somewhere you didn’t know you were looking for.

This piece is part of my Letters to the Landscape collection, now live on my website’s Portfolio page. Explore the full series and discover the story behind the collection.

What’s better than one painting? A diptych. Drawn What’s better than one painting? A diptych.

Drawn to Horizon I and II were inspired by an evening in Valley of Fire State Park, where the desert slowly transformed under the last light of the day.

I wanted to capture the feeling of being there, the pull of the horizon, the glowing light, and the stillness that settles just before dusk.

These two paintings are meant to be experienced together, as a conversation across the landscape, each one completing the other’s journey toward the fading light.

Which one speaks to you more I or II? 🌅

I lived in Colorado for five years, and the mountains never left me. I’ve hiked two of the fourteeners myself and if you’ve ever stood at that altitude, you know there’s nothing quite like it. The air, the stillness, the sheer scale of it all.

This painting was born there in my Colorado studio in 2019, my largest oil painting to date. I wanted to capture the whisper of the peak, the way the mountain holds you in light and shadow long after you’ve descended.

It found its forever home this weekend at @themusemarkets, and I’m so happy it’s going somewhere it’ll be cherished.

So grateful for everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and connected with the work. A huge moment for me: my largest oil painting to date found its new home. I’m so happy knowing it’s going somewhere it’ll be loved.

Thank you to the @themusemarkets team for putting together such a wonderful community event, and to everyone who showed up to support local artists. ✨

This little gouache painting of the Alviso marshes was one of the most loved pieces I brought to an art festival and quickly found a home. I loved hearing the memories and connections people shared with this landscape.

The original is sold, but I’ll be bringing a small number of prints with me to @themusemarkets next week!

Oil on Canvas, 24 x 24

Inspired by a summer stroll around Stowe Lake in Golden Gate Park, this painting is a reflection on those rare moments when everything feels calm, present, and enough.

The gentle light on the water, the quiet rhythm of the landscape, and the feeling of being fully immersed in the moment stayed with me long after the walk was over. Through soft layers of color and movement, I wanted to capture that sense of peaceful joy.

It’s been a while since I hiked Mount Rainier, but it still lives somewhere in me as one of the most breathtaking experiences I’ve had in nature.

I love using cold wax as a final varnish for both I love using cold wax as a final varnish for both my oil and gouache paintings to finish, seal, and protect them before they head to their new homes.

I prefer cold wax because it unifies and softens the surface with a beautiful velvety matte appearance. It’s also archival, non-yellowing, and helps reduce unwanted gloss and shine while still bringing out the richness of the colors and textures underneath.

I gently warm the wax first in a pan of hot water, pat a small amount onto a cotton cloth, and rub it thinly over the painting in circular motions, getting into all the little nooks and crannies, then allow it to dry for 48 hours before sending it off. ✨

How do you like to varnish and finish your paintings?
